Promoting Excellence In Psychological Health & Wellbeing

On this page you will find useful PPN Midlands resources, organised into three sections: quick links, recent resources, and archived resources.

Quick Resources 🕒

PPN Midlands Glossary

Acronyms can be very useful and make things easier for ourselves; we may make assumptions that our peers understand what they mean. Except, they can make things harder for some who are unfamiliar with their meanings. We were made aware of this by our Midlands Experts by Experience so have created a glossary of commonly used acronyms within the PPN.

PPN Midlands Community of Practice Guidance Document

Are you looking for a way to connect with others who share your passion within your profession? Want a space to capture and share existing knowledge or solve challenging problems? We have created a guidance document to define and explain how to create a Community of Practice.

PPN Midlands Community of Practice Information Pack

The purpose of this pack is to support PPN Midlands members in getting the most out of Community of Practice (CoP) involvement, outlining the resources and support available to PPN Midlands Communities of Practice and providing a range of information to support the management and functioning of our communities. Whilst some sections will be relevant to all CoP members, there are also some specific sections relevant to CoP chairs/co-chairs and secretaries, who along with PPN Midlands team members are the CoP leadership (core) team. Community of Practice members may be inspired to become more involved in their community, perhaps even putting themselves forward to support with helping their community to thrive through undertaking a leadership or facilitation role where these are available.

PPN Midlands Psychological Professions Careers Resource Pack

The purpose of this pack is to bring together a wide range of career-related information, presented as summaries and links to stakeholder websites. Our hope is that it will enable our members across the Midlands – who include aspiring and practising psychological professionals, service managers, workforce planners and other stakeholders - to navigate and better understand the rapidly evolving career-related developments across the sector.

PPN Midlands Discussion Paper Highlights Ethnic Representation in the Practitioner Psychology Workforce
PPN Midlands, in collaboration with the University of Birmingham and the British Psychological Society, has published an important discussion paper, Ethnic Representation and the Practitioner Psychology Workforce in the West Midlands. This paper offers a snapshot analysis of workforce ethnicity within two Midlands Integrated Care Systems (ICS), comparing it to local population demographics and NHS mental health service users. It highlights key areas for improvement, including better data collection and alignment, targeted outreach to diverse communities, and initiatives to attract a more representative workforce. This foundational work calls for action to address disparities and provides a framework for further exploration across other psychological professions.
