Promoting Excellence In Psychological Health & Wellbeing

The Psychological Professions Network (PPN) London is part of a national network commissioned by NHS England to bring together psychological professionals, people with living experience, and partner organisations to support the delivery of the Vision for the Psychological Professions in England.

As one of seven regional PPNs, we connect the psychological workforce, amplify its voice, and influence workforce development, service transformation, and policy. Our mission is to build a psychologically informed health and care system that is inclusive, effective, and responsive to the needs of London’s diverse communities. Our work contributes to a wide range of projects aligned with the NHS Long Term Plan, the Long Term Workforce Plan, and other key strategies focused on expanding and strengthening the psychological workforce.

PPN London is a multi-partner membership network committed to supporting NHS-commissioned care through psychologically informed approaches across the capital. We work closely with NHS England’s London Regional Workforce, Training and Education team and contribute to national and regional programmes that aim to grow, diversify, and sustain the psychological professions.

We operate within London’s complex and evolving NHS landscape, which includes:

  • NHS England London
  • 5 Integrated Care Systems (ICSs)
  • 33 NHS provider trusts
  • Over 200 Primary Care Networks (PCNs)
  • Thousands of community, social care, and voluntary sector partners

These systems and organisations work together to improve population health, reduce health inequalities, and deliver more joined-up, community-based care.

In 2025, the NHS is entering a major period of transformation. A new 10-year plan will focus on three key shifts:

  1. Moving care closer to communities
  2. Harnessing technology to improve care
  3. Prioritising prevention over treatment

At the same time, NHS England will be dissolved, with its functions moving to the Department of Health and Social Care over the next two years that will reshape how healthcare is led and delivered across the country.

Through these changes, PPN London remains focused on its purpose: to champion psychological approaches, connect and strengthen the workforce, and ensure psychological leadership is embedded at every level of the health and care system in London.

Membership is free and open to anyone who shares this vision - whether you're a psychological professional, living experience advisor, policymaker, educator, part of the wider health and care workforce, or simply passionate about improving care. If you believe in the power of psychological approaches to create a better system, we welcome you to our network.
